Since 1999, Global Impex Bangladesh has been providing a wide range of long vehicles, container handling equipment, and construction machinery to industries and container terminals across Bangladesh. Collaborating closely with renowned international manufacturers, including CIMC Group, Global Impex Bangladesh serves as the sole representative of CIMC vehicles in Bangladesh.
Over the years, the company has successfully supplied products to numerous government and defense projects. Today, Global Impex Bangladesh is recognized as one of the most respected and reputable importers and trading companies in the country, celebrated for its reliability, quality, and excellence.
Company Journey
Global Impex Bangladesh’s journey began in 1956 with our family’s entry into industry and business. Starting with tea export packaging, construction steel, and home appliances, our founder S.M. Jahangir established key enterprises like United Metal Industries, Sonali Shilpo Songstha, National Oxygen, and Chittagong Steel.
In 1988, my father, S.M. Omar Faroque, expanded the family businesses, while my uncle, S.M. Shawkat Gani, led export-import operations. In 1993, my father gained recognition as a top reconditioned car importer with Auto Connection. The family also added a C&F license, expanding our business further.
In 2001, another sister concern, Electrolife, joined the family group. Then, in 1999, Global Impex was established as a sister concern, which later became the main brand under my leadership.
Since 2016, I, Anik Abdullah Faruk, have led the family businesses, uniting United Metal Industries, United Automobiles, and sister concerns under Global Impex. Today, Global Impex Bangladesh imports and supplies long vehicles, container equipment, machinery, construction materials, lifts, and interior solutions, partnering with top Chinese brands and serving industries and government projects nationwide.
In Loving Memory of My Beloved Grandfather — Late Mr. S. M. Jahangir
Founder of J&A Group & United Metal Industries
My beloved grandfather, Late Mr. S. M. Jahangir, was a visionary entrepreneur and a highly respected businessman of his time. He breathed his last on 1st September 1992, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, innovation, and social contribution that continues to inspire us.
In 1956, he established United Metal Products, a pioneering manufacturing industry in Chittagong, Bangladesh, specializing in Tea Chests, Metal Fittings, Bung Cups, and Plywood for tea gardens. Under his leadership, the factory soon transformed into a modern automatic production line.
United Metal Products became the only government-approved and recognized manufacturer of tea chests and metal fittings in Bangladesh, maintaining a monopoly in the tea chest fittings and bung cup market throughout the 1980s.
During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Mr. Jahangir expanded his business ventures and founded several other successful enterprises:
- 1967: Established S.M. Jahangir & Co., a departmental store in Patuakhali.
- 1968: Founded Chittagong Salt Refinery Industry. .
- 1968: Established Deccan & Co., an importing company dealing in baby foods and malted milk drink powders.
- 1968: Founded Asia Trades, located in Love Lane, Chittagong — one of the pioneer suppliers of hardware, tools, and chemicals to Lever Brothers Bangladesh Ltd.
- 1972: Established Sonali Shilpa Shangstha, an oil, rice, and flour mill in Guthia Bandar, Barishal.
- 1972: Founded Jewel Engineering Works in Patuakhali District.
He also engaged in importing industrial tin plates, baby foods, cycle parts, chemicals, SKD scooters, and other commercial items, diversifying his business portfolio significantly.
Beyond his entrepreneurial success, Mr. Jahangir was deeply involved in social work. He was one of the founding members of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and a founder of the Barisal Samity in Chittagong.
In honor of his beloved mother, he established Begum Faizunessa Madrasha in his native village in Barishal, contributing to the education of future generations.
He was also a generous donor and an active participant in numerous social and charitable organizations throughout Bangladesh.

S.M. Omar Farouque: A Legacy of Leadership, Business Excellence, and Social Commitment
S.M. Omar Farouque Jewel, a respected entrepreneur and social leader, began his remarkable journey in 1987. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in numerous business and social organizations across Bangladesh, including the International Business Forum, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Chittagong Club Limited, Golf Club, and Barishal Club Limited.
He served as a Board Director of the Chittagong Boat Club and was also a dedicated member of the Rotary Club. Additionally, he held the honorable position of President of the Barishal Division Samity in the Chittagong District, representing his community with integrity and distinction.
Mr. Farouque was deeply devoted to humanitarian and welfare activities, offering generous support and assistance to those in need. His compassion extended beyond borders, as he was also associated with several international human rights organizations.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he personally distributed food, clothing, and essential medicines among the underprivileged. Tragically, while serving humanity, he contracted the virus and passed away — a profound testament to his selflessness, courage, and unwavering commitment to others.
Throughout his lifetime, S.M. Omar Farouque earned national recognition as a successful businessman, admired for his vision, leadership, and integrity. Socially, he was deeply respected for his kindness, generosity, and community spirit. He served as a Senior Member of BARVIDA (Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association) and a **Senior Advisory Member of the Bangladesh Customs Clearing & Forwarding Agents Association (C&F Association)*.
Over the course of his career, he established and contributed to many successful business ventures, leaving behind a legacy defined by leadership, excellence, and compassion. His life continues to inspire future generations — a shining example of how true success lies in serving both business and humanity.
